the position of a Member for the greatest Atlantic seaport of Canada, was attU of large enough view and public-spirited enough to stretch, the hand of friendship across the continent to Victoria. When the delegation which went Bast two years ago In connection with the Seymour Narrows bridge project was in Ottawa, Mr. Monk was Minister of Public Works, and he promised to give the* delegation every assistance in his power and did so. Up to the time of his death he was a supporter of the project, and shortly before he died he gave an Interview at Montreal, in which, among a number of projects of national importance which, he stated, should be carried out by the Government, was that of the Seymour Narrows bridge.
